Our Programs

WHAT PROGRAMS DOES REMAR OFFER?

1. - REHABILITATION PROGRAMS

Our programs of rehabilitation consist of three phases:

1. a First Phase (Detoxification and physical recovery)

Farm located in BulletTreeFalls in Cayo District, it is the place where changes start to happen in the life of the interns when they are introduced to a drug free environment. First phase is a farm of approximately 30 acres own by REMAR with several constructions such as homes for the interns and projects in ways to development which make that many positive things happen in the life of the persons living there. Duration of this phase may vary according to progress and improvement shown by each individual and with this phase we look to achieve:

a. - Physical recovery and detoxification.

c. - Searching strategies to solve these problems.

d. - Acquiring good behavior, self discipline, personal hygiene and following

the rules that has been given to him.

1. b Second Phase (Rehabilitation)

Located in the city, in this phase the interns begin to undertake daily work activities suited to their individual skills, aspirations and talents, this developing attitudes will help them in their eventual reinsertion into society. They are also encouraged to begin to renew contact with their relatives (parents, brothers, spouse) when these relationships has been damaged.

1. c Third Phase (Reinsertion)

This is the phase of preparation for reinsertion into society, at this stage the individual is given certain responsibilities, which will test and form his character; being the degree of trust put in him what will help to raise his self-esteem and encourages him to share in the tasks of the community thus becoming a leader.

2. - HOME FOR MARRIED COUPLES AND CHILDREN.

Located in 8 ½ miles northern highway, Lady Ville, property of REMAR and currently living 4 married couples with a total of 7 children, a single mother with 1 child and 3 single women.

3. - SOCIAL FEEDING PROGRAMS

3.1 BREAKFAST

Children are one of the most vulnerable sectors of the population to the social and economical problems that we particularly find in the countries where REMAR is working. Without fear and with much love in our hearts we reach to the children in the most poor areas in Belize, such as those in the streets known as The Jungle (Kelly St., York St., Victoria St. and on Raccoon Extension and all the dirt roads behind the cemetery) sharing breakfast to the children which sometimes it is their only meal, at present we cater to about 200 children in the week.

3.2 KITCHEN FOR THE POOR

REMAR can’t remain passive to the hunger situation that exists in our country characterized by extreme poverty and for that reason has established a social lunchroom where lunch is served to many people thus favoring to those who are the less fortunate in society, children and elderly being the children the ones that demand special attention. The work done at this kitchen help about 75 people a day, Monday through Friday.

3.3 ANGELS OF THE NIGHT

Each week we continue with the social work on the streets and the parks of our city offering something to eat, talking face to face to the persons living in the streets and at the same time inviting them to join our program. In the same way we offer food and shelter for indefinite time to those joining our program.
